Top 13?!?!

Ummm....what the world? Last I heard, thirteen wasn't the best number in the world but I am convinced that American Idol can do anything they want and it will be golden. It's their world...we just happen to be living in it. ;-)
My only concern is how all of this will play out. Does that mean that two people will go home one week? That's a hard one to swallow. That happened with Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson during season 6 (my personal favorite...hehehe) and it was painful!

Ok, enough of that. Let's get on to what I think about the finalists.

1. Adam Lambert
Dude can sing! However, I'm with Simon on this one. Sometimes I love him, sometimes I'm not as excited. (I know...that's more like how Paula would have said it instead of Simon, but you get the point)

2. Alexis Grace
Hmmm...I loved her audition so much! I haven't connected with her as much since then, but I think it might be fun to watch her come into her own during the show.

3. Allison Iraheta
My favorite!!!! I mean...I don't even have the right words! She is so amazing and she is so not allowed to sing like THAT and just be 16. She doesn't even know it yet either. I'm in awe!

4. Anoop Desai
Yay! Anybody who sings My Prerogative on American Idol deserves to be on the show! Enough said.

5. Danny Gokey
He has a pretty voice. However, I am not on the same bandwagon as alot of people. I'm don't think he's just automatically going to win. He's got some pretty stiff competition.

6. Jasmine Murray
What a cutie! She has a beautiful voice. I don't know if you've seen her singing Home when she was 11 years old, but if she does anything like that, it should take her far...very far. Thanks for showing me that video Cindy Loo Hoo!

7. Jorge Nunez
I love him! People shouldn't be allowed to be that precious!!! Plus, he has such a beautiful voice...it's like butter! Then, when he started crying and speaking in Spanish, I was done!

8. Kris Allen
I wasn't sure about his song choice, but when he got to the middle and end of Man in the Mirror, I screamed! He did a great job putting himself into the song.

9. Lil Rounds
I'm so glad she sang a Mary J. Blige song instead of a Whitney song. I thought she might struggle a little after her Hollywood Week performance, but she blew it out of the water! She showed me! (I love being proven wrong on something like that)

10. Matt Giraud
I loved his performance of Georgia and his Jackson 5 song! I'll be honest, the Coldplay song kinda freaked me out. :-) He totally redeemed himself though. I hope he can keep his style no matter what the "theme week" is.

11. Megan Joy
In my book, the jury was out on her until she did the wildcard round. She nailed it! I can honestly say I've never seen dancing like that before, but I quite enjoy her quirkiness. Plus, she looks like she might be clumsy like me, so I really like her!

12. Michael Sarver
I'm gonna have to pull a Paula on this one. He's so sweet. I love his story. That little chin dimple is intoxicating. He did his thing. He stayed true to himself. Plus, his wife is gorgeous. Yep.

13. Scott MacIntyre
He's got a beautiful voice. I can't wait to see him more in his element...at the piano. He won my heart when he gave Ryan the high 5. Too cute! Plus, he was throwing down on his choreography. I did feel bad when the Top 9 went down to hug the wildcard winners and just left him at his seat. Not fair!

So if you made it to the end, you were either bored or you're just as addicted to this show as I am.
Now I want to know what you think. Let me know...

Love you!
Melinda

Thanks to share your thinking about this season. It's pretty hard to judge some of them because they can sing the same song but in a different vocal range. I don't know if you understand what i mean. I am also please i won't heard the same song 4 times in a row. lo. They will probably eliminate 2 of them like you say. I like Adam, Allison, Lil Rounds Anoop. My favorite is jorge. To be honest Megan little hips twist get on my nerve little bit. I need to see more performance of her to give my opinion. lol. But my favorite of all of this and no one have her powerful voice is someone not sure you know her Melinda Doolittle. hehehehee.

Well, I do agree alot with Melinda.... IF I had to pick a winner right now.. probably Lil Rounds or Scott.

I like most of them.
Danny--I agree with Mel--- just hope he gets thru on his TALENT and not his story.....

Alexis- Was Great-- now .... I think she is finding herself...

Jorge--Just what a doll!!

Jasmine--- GOTTA be true to my Mississippi girl.... Maybe IF she makes it to the top 10.... they may bring a tour to poor ole Ms. As I friend of mine says who name begins with J, "why wound anyone come to Mississippi" LOL

Adam, well... uhm... I liked him.... but......

Allison (is that the red head)... loved her-- reminds me so much of Kelley Clarkson.

Anoop Dog---- who lets the dogs out--- toooooooo cool!!!!!!!

Kris-- uhm... I dont even remember him--- I am writing this before morning coffee...

Matt--sooooo bluesy sounding...

the rest--- I dont have to clear opinion on yet.....

My top 3 are... Scott, Lil Rounds, Jasmine.

DID I TAKE TOO LONG MELINDA??????

Well you darn well know I'm addicted to this show :) I like the boys a lot more than the girls this year...I used to be on the Danny train, but I've kind of..forgotten about him?

I love Adam...I think he might be my favorite. I think he's very creative and has a talent that no one else in the competition has.

I'm really starting to love Jorge..he's just so cute! He's got an amazing voice, too.

I like Scott because he's just such a likeable guy and has a good voice.

And then there's Matt. He's my second favorite. I've seen him perform pre-Idol because the piano bar where he works is my favorite weekend hangout. It's an awesome place..but MATT really shines there! He's always been my favorite little duel piano player/singer and now he's on Idol! Isn't that nuts? Anyways, he's amazing. Just wait until he can have the piano on stage. Brace yourself.

As for the girls...I love Megan. That might be because she has an awesome name. I think it's because she is very unique...she has a voice that Idol needs. I do think the judges love her a little too much though.

I also like Jasmine and Alexis Grace. I haven't decided on Allison or Lil Rounds yet.

Okay this is way too long. I love you!!!

I'm with you on the Top 13?!?!

I felt it coming though when they put Anoop and Jorge together - I sensed a set-up. Well, it's done; and I wonder now if the Top 10 mean anything as far as the tour or will they buy a little trailer to drag behind the sleeper buses?! LOL

OK...I do see a lot of sameness with the Top 13, though, not a lot of breakout/gotta hear that again-types; though I do like Scott (Josh Groban-lite), Lil (Mary J-lite; and she cracked me up with that "call the show if you can't be without me" bit on Tuesday! Yeah, girl! LOL), Matt (Elliot Yamin-lite) and Anoop (actually got a nice big ol' voice that can be very soulful). I like Jorge's tone but idk how he will do with different genres.

IMO plus a dollar and you still can't get on the bus! ;-)

Lil is my favorite by far. But I doubt that she'll win because she's really too mature for the teenyboppers who do most of the voting.

Allison at 16 has a super voice. It will be interesting to see whether she's able to adapt to the various styles.

Megan has a very distinctive voice. I again wonder about how she'll handle the theme weeks, if they do that this year.

Jorge has the cuteness factor! But Spanish is clearly his 1st language. Will that affect him?

I do like Matt, if he can keep choosing the right songs.

I'm really disappointed over the Ricky Braddy situation, but I'm still excited about some of the other contestants. I mostly agree with you, Melinda, except for Danny Gokey, I am on the bandwagon. I don't know why, but I love him. Although, I think he might not have the BEST voice in the competition, he has something else; passion, and that will take him a long way.

Oh. I love Scott and Danny. Danny's story touches me, but not as much as his singing. He gets to me every time he sings. I don't know what it is, but his passion is just spot on!

This year is wierd for me..I either really like them or don't at all. My favorite by far is Allison...she's 16 and has killer chops!! Gokey is my second favorite aminly because he is such a natural. And I completely agree with Anoop...My Perogative won me over :-D

I am interested to see how the top 13 thing goes down...

Nothing beats season 6 though!

I was shocked when I thought Noop Dogg wasn't going to make it into the Top 12. Then when they said it would be a Top 13, I got all excited.

I'm glad Jasmine made it through, I think she has some potential.

Overall, I've been underwhelmed this season. The best season ever? Not by a long shot.

I was pretty pleased with the to 13 choices too. My favorite is Danny so far...probably because he reminds me of Chris Sligh. There are a couple of them that I really LOVE when I'm in the kitchen listening, but when I WATCH them sing...not so much.

I'm really liking your new CD by the way. I play most of it when I'm out running. I think my favorite track so far is Fundamental Things. (At least it's my favorite to run too!)

Oh, what the heck. I might has well dish my two cents too. What's more to love than American Idol?

Off the top of my head, I'm loving Lil Rounds and our little fiery redhead Allison. Let's be real, they both have extroardinary talent, but they're also both humble to boot.

I think Megan has a beautiful unique voice, and I'm pretty sure if I moved like that, I'd be the laughing stock of tv land, but she somehow makes it cute, and quirky, and endearing. I'm glad they kept her around.

Love Jasmine, but I don't think I've heard enough of her to judge how far she'll make it. One thing's for sure though- precious is her middle name. She's adorable.

Hmmm...I'm drawing a blank on the rest of the girls.

It does seem like this year, EVERYBODY's got a story, and we've also got a lot of parents up there who are going to be spending a lot of time away from their kids, which always kind of breaks my heart. Understandable, but still sad. :)

Hmm...as far as guys go- Danny was my favorite to begin with, but now I'm not sure what to think. I want to see more of him but think they need to let his story simmer a bit. Jorge is pinchable he's so cute, and I was about in tears when he was so overcome by emotion that he broke out the espanol. Be still my heart- I adore him.

I think Matt Giraud is flawless when he sticks to his element, and I'm with you- the Coldplay tune was NOT his thing. I was so lost. I really think he'll shine if he can stay true to who he is as an artist.

Anoop, let's face it, is so darn likable that it doesn't even matter that I hate the song, "My perogative". I'm glad he made the Top 13.

And of course Scott, I think HIS story is incredible, possibly because one of my dearest friends is a blind musician and I know how much passion and dedication goes into her music. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us.

So to wrap it up (about time, right?) I can't name a front runner right now. I think the talent this year is diverse and pretty incredible, so I'm just excited to keep tuning in. :)

I think Jasmine Murray, Anoop Desai, Lil Round, Allison, Danny and Jorge are awesome and should stick around awhile.

I think the judges praise some people for mediocre and criticize some of those who do a good job. And this effects how america votes.

I don't really like this season of Idol it feels very cheesy.

I just google the recap and don't bother watching the whole episode. Sometimes I just watch the last last 5 minutes

I think Ricky Braddy should have been in the top 13. I hope someone in the industry sees his talent and gives him a shot
