During American Idol you commented that you were trying to find out what YOU sounded like. I knew, as did many others, almost straight away what that sound was - the subsequent weeks on the show just rounded it out. It was goosebump inducing and unique.
What we get with Coming Back To You is that same unique (and goosebump inducing) Melinda sound - but somewhat more confident in itself, and obviously focused into a direction it loves.

Your voice is so unique. Has as soft sultry sound with a touch of grit!!!! Your single is awesome you first got our attantion on your audition when you sand " fir once in my my life" you will keep our attention forever with dongs like this. Well to be honest you will have our support WHATEVER you ding we will forever support and I've you!!!!

I LOVE IT!!! For some reason when I first heard this song, it reminded me of those James Bond movie soundtracks! Your gorgeous voice, the instrumentation and the words are perfect! Very sexy! Thank you. Can't wait for February 3rd!

This single is great. You have a good style, and I've liked the previews that you've put on your website too. I'm definitely going to buy the album. Keep on singing for the Lord, and it'll shine through. You go girl!

After the intro, I get a little of an Al Green-Let's Stay Together meets Dionne Warwicke-Walk On By kinda vibe, especially the percussion, horns and guitar (love the strings and tambourine, too) in this particular Melinda-groove; and that vibe is also a trademark of the era that you've captured so perfectly. In fact, your entire CD is the kind that could be played over and over again at house parties! You've got a little something for everybody. ;-)
I love the way your vocals are smooth and sweet to start then build to that trademark grit and leave us with those famous chills. B.B. King once sang The Thrill is Gone; but you, my young sista, have declared the thrill is coming back to you! ;-)
Melinda, Hurray to finally see you putting an album out! Your title track sounds great. It was my favorite of the samples on your myspace page- so, good choice. It has that smooth, sexy, 70's soul vibe, but updated. You were the most consistent singer on AI in your season, and managed to take many songs we were not familiar with and make them your own. You got the exposure and gained the confidence you needed to move forward in your passion and career. Your style is unique, and you are a special, down to earth person.
