What NOT to do at your American Idol Audition

People always ask me for tips when it comes to auditioning for American Idol. There is obviously no perfect strategy for making it on the show, but there are a few things that are sure to ruin your chances...
If you are auditioning, please promise me you WON'T do these things...

1. Blend in with the crowd! Make sure you don’t do anything that sets you apart from everyone else. Don’t have an original sense of style or anything...just blend.

2. Start at the boring part of the song and hope to make it to the best part before they cut you off. I mean, what sense would it make to start at the good part and show them what you can do immediately?

3. Pick a song that has a total of 5 notes in it. There’a absolutely no need to show them you have range...you can show that once you get to the live show.

4. Do your entire audition with your eyes closed. Really, is there any reason to connect with them? They’re just judges.

5. Act like you’re above it all. Seriously, you don’t need American Idol...they need YOU. It’s a wonder they survived that last 9 seasons without you.

***If you have any more to add, comment below. :-)
***Also, if you audition, let me know how it goes.

Love ya!
Melinda

You forgot one: If you don't make it, don't come out swearing and screaming on camera that you're great, the judges are [bleep]s, you're going to sell a gazillion more discs than Kelly Clarkson ever did ... There might actually be agents or promoters watching those audition shows. You don't want to let the world know how insane you go if you are rejected. The business is FULL of rejection, so grow a thick skin and get used to it if you expect to make it.

Go ahead and sing the words you think the person on the radio is saying. Don't bother to actually look up the lyrics online to make sure you have them right.

Melinda this is probably hard to believe but you are my cousin. I am apart of the Summers Family. Your father Steve doolittle is first cousins with my grandmother Mary Summers-Woods. I actually met your mom at the Summers Family Fish Fry about two years ago. It was nice to meet some of the family that I've never met before. You have truly inspired me. Please email me inspiretheworld2@ymail.com. It would be sooo much to me
Love,

Also, I just told my grandmother that I visited your website and she told me this: In other words your grandmother, Aunt Susiana Doolittle, and my grandmother's dad, William D. Summers, Jr (deceased) are brother and sister.
